U13s vs Lullington (Away), Sunday 26th April

28/04/2009 17:48

On a bright sunny morning the weather was perfect to get the new season under way, Rolleston started with the ball and quickly had Lullington in trouble at 8 for 4 with some excellent accurate bowling from Dan Thompson (3-2-4-1), and there was also a fine run out from Dan Wildman. Captain Dan Featherstone took the opportunity to get plenty of bowlers into the attack, with Lewis McQuillan (2-8), Simon Billings (2-11) and Jack Prescott (1-8) all bowling good lines. Charlie Wood and Jack Arnold came into the attack to wrap up the tail and leave Lullington all out for 46 of 15.5 overs.

Liam Goode (12) and Dan Wildman opened the Rolleston reply with some fine shots to move to 20 without loss, but with both openers losing their wickets to poor shot selection, they returned to the pavilion feeling disappointed. Dan Featherstone was out bowled with Rolleston losing three wickets for 12 runs. In came Bertie Winstone at number 5, to smash 2 fours and a six in quick time to finish the game on 15 not out, leaving Charlie Wood not out at the non-striker's end, Rolleston winning by 7 wickets inside 11 overs.

A good performance by Rolleston particularly in the field, but one would suggest there will be stronger teams along the way.
