Rolleston v Tamworth 03-05-2009

Rolleston's first home game of the season became another easy victory against a surprising Tamworth team who are normally a strong set up at junior level. Charlie Wood winning the toss and putting the visitors into bat proved a good choice, as Bertie Winstone opened up with 3 quick wickets, all bowled, in an excellent couple of overs of swing and great length bowling. From here on in, little resistance was shown to the Rolleston bowling with the captain using 10 bowlers, with the best figures of 2-2-0-3 coming from Charlie as he wrapped up the innings. Rolleston ground fielding was excellent to enable a couple of good run outs.

Rolleston opened there response with Henry Parker and young Brandon Ridgeway, neither batsman looking troubled as they saw off the opening bowlers, once the bowling attack was changed Henry cut loose to reach 24 not out with 3 fours to push Rolleston pass the target in 12 overs.

Rolleston winning by 9 wickets.

Tutbury v Rolleston 05-05-2009 Cup game.

Rolleston elected to bat first for the first time this year, with Bertie and Dan Feather (9) moving the score on rapidly from the start, Bertie getting to 28 (5 fours) quickly before being caught going for another boundary with the score on 35. Second wicket fell at 39 leaving the innings to be revived by Liam Goode who retired on 30 (5 fours) off only 23 balls with some fine shot making. Jack Arnold (3) departed soon after leaving Charlie Wood and Henry Parker to move the score on to an impressive 115 for 4 of their 20 overs.

Tutbury started their response but with Dan Wildman opening the bowling it proved too much with wickets in his first and second over, Tutbury found it hard going from some accurate bowling from Dan Thompson (3-1-4-0), Lewis McQuillan (4-1-3-1) and Simon Billings (2-0-7-1). Dan Wildman returned for his final over to remove the final batsmen to finish with excellent figures of 4-3-4-4. Rolleston’s fielding also proving too good for  Tutbury with 3 run outs costing them dearly.

Rolleston win by 85 runs.
